Buy cute PJ's! I think I will!

I have received a couple emails from friends asking: "How are you?". Well, this is me right now.

I am not living in the here and now (probably not a great idea...I'm working on it : ). I am always thinking about when the twins come and what that will bring. One of my biggest fears with the twins is what if one or both have medical issues...in the hospital for a long time etc...that is what I am freaking out about lately. Life will be insane when they are both home. But my mom will come out for a while and Brandon's mom will come out. But Everyone has offered to help and that is a comfort.

I am still excited, but this morning I started reading a book about the first year of twins...not a medical book, but practical mom to mom advice type book. It was supposed to be a little humorous and what not. I was crying all morning (gotta love the HORMONES!). It talks about how hard things can be and keeps saying to put things in perspective and laugh about it. Example: Buy cute PJ's so you don't feel too bad when you are wearing them for the 3rd day in a row without showering. But the book doesn't really address already having 2 other kids and what to do with them and how to survive that on top of the twins. I am sure it will all work out and family will help and our ward is amazing. But I am getting a little stressed.

I am starting to feel a little better and now. I need to kick into high gear and start cleaning and cooking again. It is so hard to do it even though it isn't making me sick to smell the food.

One thing the book mentions that was a life saver was Crock pot meals! Once your kids start napping more consistently you can plan to do crock pot meals during the morning nap. But I am not likely to try a bunch of new things when I am so busy, so if you have any crock pot recipes that you like please send them my way! I am going to start trying them!
Dinner time is already so crazy around here, so I am really excited about this idea!

I'm a big fan of the Crock Pot. Also, if you have a Saturday sometime, I am a big advocate for the book "Dinner is Ready." The idea is to take a day (I usually do half the stuff so it takes only a half a day) and cook and freeze dinners that lay flat in your freezer.
YOU WILL BE A GREAT MOM OF 4 Lanes! If anyone can do it, it's you (that's what we are all saying).

I'm not worried about you. I'm sure it will be tough but, you will be great! I would imagine that the first year will be hard, of course, but imagine all the fun you'll have as they grow! And you get to experience one less pregnancy! You just need to take really good care of yourself now and try not to worry.

I can think of lots of other moms that have had twins when they had several other kids, and seemed to be just fine. Christy told us that Liz Jardine is pregnant with twin boys right now and they will be her 4th and 5th kids, all very young like yours.

I echo robyn's comment about freezer meals. I just did it and love it!
And it's ok to get freaked out once in a while. We all know you are a great mom and will be able to manage just famously!

Ooh, I've definitely got some crock pot recipes to share with you. Try not to worry about what might happen. (Although, it's definitely hard to do.) The possibility of the twins being fine and you delivering at 37 weeks is just as likely as anything else happening. You've already had 2 great pregnancies with no preterm labor or anything like that. So, your track record is good. And you've made it this far already with no problems. Those are awesome signs, in my humble opinion. You can definitely do this. I'm cheering for you.

Freezer meals and crock pot meals... i would personally like to kiss their inventors.

Elena- I don't have twins, so I can't speak, but I do have two kids fairly close together and two kids who both still don't sleep. (I haven't slept an hour straight in two weeks). I have a personal belief that I would much rather do two at the same time and have them both going through the hard times than to spread it out. So, just think about that. I have heard from many parents that more than two kids isn't harder, just more chaos. Chaos isn't so bad. --

Just feel lucky you aren't the lady in our stake with quints!! They have a calendar for helpers and everything. At least you will be able to be a mom to all of your babies... and a great one at that!
